If you want some qualitative data, I ticked "Glasses" because I've worn glasses since I was six, and feel naked without them. I tried contact lenses but I am so short-sighted that my eyes took ages to adjust when I took them out, and it alarmed me - and the thought of laser surgery to something as important as my sight frightens the pants off me.

thinking about this although I can see things very clearly that are a long way off, things close aren't blurry so perhaps there is another name for my sight?

I only had my eyes tested last month and stuff got blurry about 40 cm/ 16 " from my face which I would think is pretty normal for most people?
Optician said I had a small prescription of +1.25 in one eye and +0.25 in the other so no glasses needed

That is a little digression, oj, glad you don't need specs - I am +6 dioptres in one eye, I wish I could see as well as you!

I'm not aware of a Year 11 GCSE course that encompasses this kind of research.
