Sofabed that you sleep lengthways ?!

I hope this makes sense but I am trying to find a sofabed for a small room.

I have seen sofa beds that fold-out so that the back of the sofa becomes the headboard so-to-speak but are there any that simply fold flat and you sleep lying across them so the sofa almost become just a mattress?

Can't you just buy a long sofa or daybed without arms, then you just sleep as if you were lying on the sofa?

My futon sofa opens lengthways so your head and toes are by the arm rests. That sounds strange.
