Having got up this morning to find that the weight of the living room curtains has pulled the curtain pole out of the wall (I now have a large hole in said wall) I am thinking of having vertical blinds fitted.

Does anyone know if Hillary's are any good, or can recommend anyone (I live in York)

They seem to have a good business ethic and everything went like clockwork with mine. They came when they said they would, or rang if they were going to be a few minutes late. Quality of work was good too.

I use Hillary's and found them really helpful and efficient.

That's good tenrec as I don't actually trust feedback on websites.........
I have never used them, but know people that have and were very pleased with them. My friend has his own blind business, but I think York is a little too far to come.

Hillary's are fine. Good quality and workmanship. But do not take any notice of their so-called discounts.

Well I've been on their website and found some I quite like, to order if you fit them yourself, so that gives me a rough idea...............just have to see how much they charge for fitting.
I wouldn't mind but the living room is the only room in the house with curtains!!

Don't know Tilly................I have 3 pairs of curtains for this particular window which must have cost about £1000. :-(
Sandersons.
If it's a really big window it might be cheaper to get someone to re-attach the curtain pole.
If the curtain pole the right one for your weighty curtains. Why not see if you can just change the pole with a sturdier wall attatchment

I may have problems getting a bracket to go with the pole tenrec, as the existing one is totally bent out of shape. I don't like curtains anyway, so as long as the blinds are washable I'll be happy. I'll take the curtains to the charity shop, or the daughter can flog them on ebay.

york the brackets came with the pole and have 6 screw fittings in each of the 3 brackets............I think the problem is is that it is such a big window, and I like double width curtains (I can hardly lift one curtain)
