Serves 6

Treacle tart is a sweet, sticky, very satisfying dessert and surprisingly easy to make. This tart is made from short crust pastry, which you can make yourself or do it the quick, easy way and buy some.  The tart is then filled with a sticky, gooey, treacle filling made from golden syrup and breadcrumbs. This dessert takes about 30 minutes to make so perfect for when you’re craving a homemade dessert.

Treacle tart served with a dollop of clotted cream makes for a perfect decadent dinner party dessert, great in winter when you and your guest want something warming, but still pretty good in summer served cold with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. If you have any leftover it is also a great afternoon tea time treat; a cup of chai and a slice of treacle tart makes for a wonderful afternoon. Or, if you want to be generous, you could always save a slice for your children when they get back from school.

  • 125g golden syrup
  • 110g of fresh breadcrumbs
  • 60ml double cream
  • 1 tbsp ground ginger
