Creamy mash potato is a simple delicious side dish; it is easy and cheap to whip up. To add a little extra luxury and a touch of Italian flavour try adding parmesan and a little garlic, simple but delicious.

In winter this is a perfect side dish to go with rich meaty meals, a slow roasted lamb shank, sirloin steak or a warm Italian stew. In summer parmesan mash is beautiful with lighter dishes, like baked haddock or a simple grilled chicken breast with a leafy green salad.

Whether you are entertaining or cooking for one a good mash is wonderful. For a dinner party it is a simple side dish that always goes down well. If you are cooking for one bangers and mash is delicious, quick comfort food and a luxurious parmesan mash with good chunky Cumberland sausages will make it even better.
