Italian Affogato

One of the simplest, yet most delicious desserts, anyone can make is an Affogato. Affogato is an Italian dessert or dink of ice cream drowned in coffee. All you need to do is make a good cup of coffee, a very strong espresso is perfect and scoop some ice cream, a rich creamy vanilla ice cream is ideal. If you want to make life a bit harder for yourself you could make the ice cream but otherwise it is ready when ever the pot is brewed.

Coffee is an after dinner necessity for any dinner party, so affogato is perfect as a little extra special coffee treat. To impress your guest even more sprinkle little bits of chocolate on top for the pista de resistance.

Ingredients

  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 2 shots of espresso

Method

  1. Place 2 scoops of ice cream in serving glasses, pour a shot of espresso on top.
