I recently gave my daughter a deep fat frier for a car boot, it has been taking up space in my pantry for a good few years, all boxed up, used maybe a dozen times. She took the sandwich maker last year. Last week in a moment of madness I bought a breadmaking machine. I love fresh bread but my wrist is a bit arthritic now hence the machine. When it arrived I mentally found a space for it in the pantry - where the deep fat frier used to be. I used the breadmaker the other day. Not sure what happened but the lid was rising as the dough rose higher and higher. When the loaf was ready it was stuck to the lid and I eventually had to cut the top off the loaf. Not a good start and I have an awful feeling that I have bought something that is going to go the same way as the deep fat frier and the sandwich maker. Please tell me I'm not the only one who has gadgets that are never used.

Oooh, get you with your fancy butter curled ways!

You're not alone AYG, I'm passing lots to my daughter she'll probably sell them on gumtree
A huge manual juicer, an electric carving knife and a fancy set of BBQ tools
If you need anything, just ask me ,the garage is full of all of these kind of gadgets.Covered in dust .
My potato ricer went to the charity shop, a mouli is much faster.

I'm not a fan of gadgets and suspect the ricer was a gift as I can't remember ever buying it.
Me too "give up" Bread-maker, doesn't and Deep fat fryer is useless.
Never one to splash out on pricey gadgets, but do accumulate little gizmos - types of things you use rarely then can never find them.

Butter curlers, Cherry stoners, Melon ballers etc lol

As soon as I got the breadmaker I knew it was going to be a loser. It took three hours to make a small loaf. I could have gone to Asda and back for one.
Funny Eccles, I find my potato ricer very useful for all sorts of things.
But you miss out on the wonderful smell of fresh bread AYG!
None, tiny kitchen, no room for stuff not used.
Have you tried a mouli though giveup?

A ricer gives good results but a mouli is quicker.
My friend swears by the Aldi bread mixes, maybe you could try one of those.
I couldn`t live without my breadmaker (are you sure you used the correct recipe for the machine size)? I have a toasted sandwich maker which is now redundant due to the breadmaker crusts being too thick for it. I gave away a mechanical juicer on Freecycle along with a few other bits and pieces so I don`t really have a surplus now.
In the past couple of years my cleaner has been the recipient of a sandwich maker, a bread maker, a large and a small George Foreman, a cafetiere, and a juicer.
For some unknown reason I have just bought a deep fat fryer.............

I love the smell of fresh bread eccles, and the machine does mix the dough without baking it so I suppose I could use it for the dough making, bit of a faff though.
Have never tried a mouli Eccles, but Craft couldn't give up my cafetiere.
Good job we're all different, or life would be so boring.
We have had a breadmaker for years - OH uses it constantly. We got DD one and like AYG's experience, it ended up with a quatermass-like goo covering their kitchen. Some of the brands just don't perform very well.
OH and the lad love gadgets but quickly go off most of them, so the cupdoards are stuffed with: deep fat fryer (banned for health reasons), sandwich maker, toaster, steamer, slow cooker, some weird bottle-shaped thing that's meant to chop vegetables, a food processor with many attachments, and a juicer.
I am a kitchen Luddite and don't even like the microwave (another of OH's toys).
I like to use a manual grater, occasionally a moulinex hand-powered 'julienne' mill from a French supermarket, a hand held soup whizzer, and a sharp knife.

Sherrard it was an Aldi wholemeal breadmaking mix that I used - my first attempt. I intended to buy the flour and yeast this weekend. It is a 1lb loaf breadmaker and the packet of mix was 500grammes, maybe I used too much mix and water. I'll have to give it another go.
butter curlers are fab, the melon ball things are flippin' useless
