I don't have many pots and use my largest (stainless steel I think) to poach eggs. The pot now has egg white stuck fast to the bottom of it which I can't get off. I've tried leaving hot soapy water in it etc but it won't budge. Is there anyway to remove it?

I use one of those stainless steel scratchy sponges after I've soaked it - always comes off. However - using a floating Poach Pod means you don't get overflow from the egg white.

A floating Poach Pod? Never heard of them? I was using a microwavable plastic contraption but the eggs just exploded in the microwave no matter how carefully you watched them.
If it's stainless steel I'd use a brillo pad.

The poaching pods are okay but the whites go a bit rubbery. I'd invest in a non stick pan if I were you.
I always soak pots in cold water first...the theory being that hot simply 'cooks' food on a bit more. Then I try a warm, soapy soak.

Thanks for link but I had some credit on Amazon and bought some from there. I only had about 84p to put towards it so that's fab.

Will def try some Brillo pads to try and remove residue from pot.

Ps brillo pads worked a treat! Why didn't I think about that earlier! I had brillo pads under the sink - duh!
Excellent - glad we could help!
