I'm almost certain it was one of those packets in a box type thing. The very fact my mum bought it and made it strongly suggests there wasn't much skill involved in it!

I vaguely recall some kind of sponge mix, and gooey sauce which you poured on the top, bunged in the oven and the sauce would sink to the bottom and make an upside down sponge with sauce pudding. Or was it the only way round? You put sauce in first then sponge mix?

Anyhoo, considering my vagueness it's hardly surprising that I can't find it on Google is it?

Anyone else remember it?

rofl, im sorry, see above!
I remember these, can't think what they were called though.
Sounds like a Sussex pond pudding. While on the subject of retro food do you remember Vesta Chow Mein We thought it was very sophisticated.
does this ring a bell?

The Hot Crunch Pudding came in a packet containing two sachets. The first contained a powder which when mixed with hot water from the kettle became a gloopy custard like pudding. Once this was decanted into individual bowls the second sachet came into play. This contained a crunchy topping, a bit like biscuit crumbs or the top of an apple crumble, which could be sprinkled over the pudding to give it some added texture

Thanks all xxx

Might it have been one of the desserts in the Symingtons Range such as a creme caramel or blancmanges. In the back of my brain there is an image of a box with blue printing and a pic of the dessert on it, but I can't read the letters. We used to have a grocery shop many, many years ago where we served the customer, so I must have handled quite a few in my time. If it comes back to me me I will post. If it doesn't I'll ask my mum, she might remember.
not you me, i could remember someone asking about it but it can;t of been that q

ta Dicky :-)
Vesta meals are still going. When we were kids mum used to make them up for us as a treat. My dad would not eat "foreign muckment" in those far off days. Now he eats everything he is given and denies ever not liking curries etc.
Does anyone else remember the short-lived Pot Sweet?
Question Author
Oh cheers Ginge, been curious about it for a few years now. Every now and then I'd remember it, and go for a fresh look on Google, and failing miserably each time.
Never heard of Pot Sweet?. How's the job going?
Just remembered, Heinz used to do a range of tinned puddings as well. You had to pierce the top of the tin abd stand it in boiling water for ages. If you didn't watch them they could decorate the kitchen ceiling!!
