how odd, their own version of it!

Wonder what its like? I adore Marmite.
Doesn't Australia have "Vegemite"? I thought that was the local equivalent of Marmite.

Me too. Though given the nature of the beast, I'm waiting for someone to say "it's edible".....
vegemite is vile.... marmite is brill
It must taste different, did you see the amount spread over that toast, I love Marmite, but I couldn't have it that thick.
The Antipodes have both their own version (vegemite, quite yummy) and an ersatz thing they call 'marmite' but which is an absolute travesty - think supermarket own brand yeast extract and then downgrade considerably. If you like UK marmite you will probably hate it.

They do import ours as well.
I think that it should have a world wide ban, horrible nasty stuff , blrrr, blrrr, blrrr.
Marmite is a by-product of the brewing industry, so we should all drink more beer to keep Marmite going. Although I can't believe NZ Marmite can possibly be any good if they also willingly eat that vile gritty abomination called vegemite.
<<I think that it should have a world wide ban, horrible nasty stuff , blrrr, blrrr, blrrr. >>

I take it you don't exactly like it then? But why ban it?

I could say there should be a world wide ban on tomatoes - vile yucky things.

Does that put it in context?
Good grief ! One would have had to be deliberately acclimatising one's tongue for years to have that much on a slice of toast. Anyone seeing that and deciding to give it a try would be put off for life. When I first started eating it, it was a case of barely touching the butter with the brown stuff. Can put much more on and enjoy it these days though. Having said that, I've not had Marmite for absolutely ages.
If you like I can give you a fair sized list of so called "foods" that should be banned given that they are so revolting and folk should stop putting them with decent food and expecting you to have anything to do with it. Neither Marmite nor tomatoes would be on the list though.
is anone else having the same problemwith Marmite jar as I am? I just can't open it! Normally with a metal jar I would warnm the top to make it expand t=and then open but the Marmite jar is plastic, have tried one of the bottle opener gadgets but that was no good.
Any advice?
Some kind of adjustable wrench ? You can get "strap" type tools that hold the lid tight and give you a lever to move.

If you want to risk it, and it is at your own risk, you can jar a stuck lid between door and frame and try to move the jar. Wear gloves and glasses, be aware the frame / door could end up with an indent.
Vegemite is Australian, and was originally called Parwill (Marmite, Parwill, geddit). NZ has its own locally made Marmite; it 's a bit less salty.

It quite often helps if you give the edge of the lid a sharp tap on a work surface. At least, it works with glass jars, but I've never tried it with plastic.

My horizons have been broadened ^^ thanks Jno! :-)
I recommend Vegemite. It has a much better flavour than Marmite
I want to contribute to a Marmite thread, but I do not know the answer and have little to add. Other than I love Marmite.
LEICESTERSHI....Perhaps there is a special opener for jars of Marmite. :-)
