HAVE JUST LEARNT THAT MY G/PARENTS ADOPTED A BOY WHO WAS ABOUT 5/6 YRS OLD, HE WAS A SON OF A FAMILY FRIEND, THERE WERE OTHER SIBLINGS BUT JUST THE ONE WAS ADOPTED BY MY G/PARENTS. IS THERE ANY WHERE THAT I COULD GET MORE INFORMATION FROM ABOUT THIS, AS IT WAS ABOUT THE 1890s would there be obtainable records anywhere. MANY THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

There weren't any laws concerning adoption until the 1920's so it was usually done informally, by a friend or relative, and you are therefore unlikely to find any records.

Sometimes adopted children were still shown with their original names on the censuses.............have you checked on any of them for your grandparents?
