Out of curiosity, a fair few have gone, but have I missed any? I recall:

Woolworth, BHS, Comet, Maplins, Dixons, Virgin Records, MFI, BlockBuster, Toys r Us, DOITALL, Books etc, Northern Rock, Carillion, Habitat, The Cornish Pasty Shop, Poundworld. Plus numerous small biz like book shops and electric parts, That is about it. Anybody remember any others? Thanks.

I don't think Carillion were retailers. Woolworths have been gone for yonks; you could go back to Bourne and Hollingsworth if you want.

There's a list here

https://www.lovemoney.com/galleries/53030/23-major-brands-that-disappeared-from-uk-high-streets?page=1
When you say gone, do you mean completely or are you counting buyouts and acquisitions?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habitat_(retailer)
JJB Sports
Zavvi
Phones 4u
GameStation
Morrisons M Local (after being sold and rebranded as My Local)
Chimichanga
FHW?
FHW been gone over 30 years.
FHW ceased in 1996 - if that is too old?

Office World & Comet are more recent examples
Sorry - 22 years yes, I must be misunderstanding recent.
Focus DIY
Safeway
Dalziel Bakers
Mr Buyrite.
Fine Fare.
Another one:
Staples (They're still online but all of their stores have closed).
William Low, swallowed by Tesco.
John Menzies
Littlewoods (I think the last shops were sold to Primark)?

JJB Sports

Do it All
Depends how far you are going back...
The Old Curiosity Shop.
I didn't realise Staples were no more.
Deep pan pizza.
Great British burger.
Some people here seem to be stretching the definition of 'recent years' a bit. However, if everyone else is doing it anyway, I'll add in Timothy Whites. (I'm really showing my age there!).

More recently though:
Adams Childrenswear

. . . and even more recently:
Store Twenty One
I'm taking recent years to be living memory.
Dixons have not gone, there are still some at various airports.

The one at Birmingham airport is called Dixons Travel.
>> I didn't realise Staples were no more.

They still exist, but they are a web site, see here

https://www.staples.co.uk/

I think a lot of the Staples stores became Office World stores (the one near me did) selling pretty much the same thing.
