Lucly you spotted it so quickly, murray - a friend of mine had thousands of pounds spent on his cloned card (3 purchases in 3 different towns) before he realised it.

I'd guess it would be by date. At a minute past midnight you could make the next withdrawal.
One way to find out :-)

I'd suspect a midnight reset but I don't know.
I think its by date so you could withdraw max at 11:59pm and then again at 00:01am two minutes later as long are both business days, may depend on individual bank card terms and conditions.
A warning, however, is that there are several security functions on ATM/Debit cards to protect you from identity theft. If you rarely use a card, and then suddenly begin maxing out the withdrawal limits, it gives the appearance of someone using a stolen card and the bank's security team may at least temporarily block your card for your protection.

Reason I asked there was a problem with my card and it was eventually decided the chip was damaged and a new one is coming.....then today I spot a transaction for nearly one hundred pounds for a lingerie company that I did not make ! Could this be linked ? Barclays have refunded the sum and setting up a fraud file..card cancelled till New one arrives...oo err ....what's going on ?
your card may have been cloned. apparently "my" card was used in Walmart somewhere in the USA while I was sitting on my sofa :o)

Best of it Sara it was to a lingerie company....as if I'd spend a hundred smackeroos on some undies ???
Happened to me , someone in Northern Cyprus used my card to buy £150 worth of porn films 2 mins after I used the real card in my home town to buy postage stamps. I got the cash back as the bank realised it was impossible to be in 2 places at once.

Someone tried to take £450 from my card, in Thailand. I was in England. But the bank stopped it.

I was impressed that Barclays credited me immediately ....
I was similarly impressed with Barclaycard when they spotted an unusual transaction on my card some years back. Can't say I've had such efficient service from other banks.
My bank-Nat West-stopped a suspect transaction before it could go through. I found out when I discovered my card had been blocked.
