Just spend some regular fun time with him if you can and avoid 'plenty more fish in the sea' type conversations. Maybe thumbing through a few photos and sharing some memories and letting him cry it out with you might help.

If you do this he will feel the time spent with her was wasted which could make him even more depressed. Try to help him see that there will be other girlfriends. It is really sweet that you have come on here to ask for help in this. Well done. You will make some lucky person a kind and thoughtful companion yourself.

I am (female) 18 and he is 23 he just sent me a text saying he was still absolutely heartbroken and its just so upsetting, i live in a different county to him so i can't be with him as a shoulder to cry on which is just leaving me feeling even more helpless, i just don't know what words to say to comfort him.
There isn't a lot you can say - the person who's left behind often really suffers. All you can do is be comforting.
