I quite like Fuengirola.... but I've never been to Benidorm, we used to spend a week every February on the Carihuela between Torremolinos and Benalmadena

Horrible place....go inland to the real Spain....once passed a pavement cafe up in the hills had wonderful meal wine etc......then found out it was just a family's house.....went back with wine and stuff as a thank you And ended up staying over as it was a wedding do......best time ever...

I went when I was 17, returned when I was about 35

When I was 17 I spent the week getting seriously drunk, burnt to a crisp and chased women.

When I was 35 I just spent the week wondering why the flump I had returned.

Boxy, I remember when Benalmadena was a small sleepy village. It was lovely.

Mijas used to be like that when we first started going - extremely built up now, particularly since they built the new road :-(

Mijas is ok, went there last year. But give me Ronda anytime.... Absolutely loved it. Stayed at the Hotel San Gabriel, I felt as though I'd stepped into another world.

I went in the 70 s and was so ashamed of the Brits behaviour that I took a local bus out every morning and came back late at night. I went to Salou in its early days & liked it, once I discovered Portugal I never went back to Spain.

Loathe it, made that mistake about 6 years ago, never again!
