My stupid bengals were play fighting earlier, and leo put his claw right through lunas eyeball, (it was an accident) I have been to the vets and already there is an ulcer and an abcess has now started, eye ball has a lot of blood in it, the vet put her on really strong antibiotics oral and antibiotic cream for the eye, I have 1 really sad depressed little cat at the mo, she has had some tuna so thats a good sign.

Would you consider keeping the tips of their claws clipped to prevent this happening again? It's not something I would advocate myself unless perhaps they were indoor cats. Got my fingers crossed for her. My male used to throw his weight around with his sister as well, not with other males, just his sister!

Awww, poor little puss. I hope her eye heals quickly and with no complications.
Aw josaphine - that's sad to hear, but cats will fight - fingers crosed that luna will be OK. Cats claws are such toxic things...
god that sounds horrible. Poor little pusscat. Hope she's better soon. But if she's eating that's a good sign. x
Damn thats vicious! I thought mine were bad

She looks so sad, I have to go back on monday as the vet was quite concerned, her eye was so green when they put the dye in, :( just hoping there is no permenant damage.

He didn't mean it, I think he thinks he is in the dog house, even though I didn't tell him off, he had tuna as well, he is 3 times the size of her she only weighed 2 and 1/2 Kilos at the vets, he is such a big lean bugger,
Is she still grooming herself? That's usually a very good indicator of how a cat is feeling. As for Leo, I expect he senses that something's wrong, even if he doesn't know what
Question Author
No she is not grooming, she is in front of me on the dog bed with 2 of my dogs, she is doing the cold cat thing with her paws tucked into her chest, I will keep an eye on her tonight, if need be I have some dog metacam, I will give her a tiny amount of that at bed time.x
Josaphine, don't dose her, not a good idea to give a cat dog medicine, IMO....
Oh dear she must be feeling very sorry for herself. Smart cat to use the dogs as a hot water bottle, though
Wasnt sure what I expecting when I read your title josaphine!
But poor thing! God that must have hurt her! Poor puddy tat, they are a law unto themselves at times, they have such weapons Im surprised they dont hurt themselves and other cats more severely ! Hope she recovers well!

Funny enough I did clip one cats claws last week, she cant scratch on the posts around the house and rips up the carpets, she was found with her collar stuck around her arm/shoulder, I will try that, thanks,

Josaphine, check the collar isn't too loose, that's usually the reason they get their arm/leg stuck through it.
Question Author
No she was not my cat at the time, she was on death row at the rspca they gave her 3 hours as she was high maintanance, I took her on and the vets didmthe surgery for free, I do not do collars, hate the bloody things, it's a noose in it's self, all 8 of my cats, +4 dogs are all microchipped. :)
OK. Got ya:-)

Just an up-date, luna's eye is healing well, she still has a small whole were the claw went in,but now not bloody, the antibiotics and the steroid cream is working well, I have to now hold the cream behind my back before administering it, otherwise she is gone, she only needs to see the tube and she is gone, thanks all. X
Our cats are like that when they see the Stronghold box, josaphine!

So glad she is improving.

We clip our cats' claws regularly as they otherwise catch in furnishings and our clothing - they soon grow back.
Question Author
Animals are not stupid, a sixth sence suddenly appears when they need it,
I was totally unaware that cat's claws can be clipped - how daft is that? My sofa covers not to mention the dining room chairs are more or less shredded by the little blighters. Can the clipping be done at the vet? It's bad enough trying to brush our four furry friends let alone clip their claws.

So glad to hear your puss is on the mend Josephine
