Yes I have seen this service advertised, I bet it is very expensive. You could post a few pics here and some of the doggy people will get the X pretty near the mak for free.

I don't think DNA is accurate enough for a definite ID , if the dog is a mongrel it is a mix of at least 2 breeds. Post a photo on here , there are many doglovers I am sure some one will be able to tell what breed it is.

In theory there are firms that offer this service, but to be honest its a waste of time, because all they can tell you is that your dog may contain certain breeds. Did you get him as a purebred or crossbreed? If he is supposed to be purebred, but you are not sure, then you need to check out the breeders dogs. If he is a crossbreed, does it really matter?

He is a rescue boy and is now 15 years old and a real old mongrel( never spent a penny on vet bills) I would love a similar "next dog" when the sad day comes and I get another dog.
No it does not matter because he is the best but I wonder what the best is!

That really depends on you, do you work, are you very active, are you out a lot of the time, are you willing to spend a lot of time and dedication to training, do you want a big dog a little dog, will you want to spend a lot of time grooming it, the list goes on.

No I have the best dog - just have no idea what he is!

Post us a photo or give us a description - we are all intrigued now! Don't forget though that whatever new dog you get will have a totally new set of genes, and won't have the benefit of growing old with you and you both learning along the way. We get a lot of people saying 'my old dog never did that', but they probably forget that their old dog either did do similar things or others just as naughty or unpleasant! Each new dog brings its own challenges and fun finding out!
