Wouldn't it be nice to have an 'Equine' sub topic?

I don`t see why they couldn`t have it as a subsection of Animals and Nature. After all, there`s a birdwatching section. Horses are a hobby as well as an animal in the same way as birds/birdwatching.

Yes it would. Why not? You can still post under A and N though.
Not yet......

Although I am currently working on Mr BM. I do miss my horses.
What did Hamlet say when he was considering taking up horse riding?

"To be or not to be; that is the equestrian?"
I've got 230. They're under the bonnet of my car.
No longer have a horse. I put my last old boy down last year. I do miss having a horse but they are such a commitment and I'm not prepared to devote that much time to one now so will make do with my at.
hard work but oh so worth it , both mine are in the paddock in the sky now ,but have 2 ladies who keep 3 with me so still able to keep my hand in dont ride any more but still love the rest of it even on a day like today when the paddocks are like swimming pools lol
No longer in a position to keep geegees but had lots of fun in my youth, and later. When I think back to the daft things we used to get up to, i.e jumping gates with a whole head of rollers in, in preparation for an evening out. If my own children had got up to the same antics, i would certainly have put the foot down!
When I was a youngster the family business was a riding stables, the large number of wee smallie girlies in jodhpurs has had a lasting affect on my life (thank goodness)
My family also ran riding stables alongside the farm, Baldric. Then in later years I ran trekking for a few years on the Isle of Skye. It was challenging finding suitable routes dodging bogs and rocks.
Had my old boy for over 30 years and when I see people riding out I really wish I could still join them. Not financially viable now I'm afraid (and would take a block and tackle to get me into the saddle!).
As much as I love horses, and I do, indeed had them for many years some time ago, I fail to see why we need a separate category for them?

If we go down that route, everyone else will be wanting a specific category for each particular animal.

HI BOO

Maybe you fail to see how an Equine sub topic could be of value but Ed might think differently considering over 4.5 million (source Horse and Hound) people ride in the UK at the present. I came to AB through a link on Google and perhaps if I'd typed in a specific question on Horses I may have been directed here. As AB is not a knitting circle but a business relying on advertising, then it may be of benefit to both AB as a business and to horsey people. I personally don't like going on horsey public forums as fail to see why I should justify myself to wippersnappers who think they know everything about equines because they have a certificate in Stable Management. This site is in my opinion a little more user friendly and I thought it would be useful to post equine specific questions on here. ;-)
My kids used to be terrible dare devils. Especially when preparing for gymkhana or utility classes. They would put up a line of bounce jumps and ride down with no reigns, or blindfolded or some other stupid antic. They would put flapping bags on the jumps or sacks. All good training but I would nearly have a heart attack watching.

when I look back at what we did as teenagers on horseback I'm just glad my kids never did this (or at least not when I saw them) . Also, the things we made kids do when I was a Riding Instructor - you would get done by Health and Safety now lol!
But there's about 6 million dog owners Mags, should we get our own category? Should imagine there's as many cat owners too, again, a separate category? Where do you stop?
Question Author
@ Boo YES!! ;-) but I'd draw the line at reptilia LOL!
there are plenty of dedicated equine websites. This site is questions & answers on ALL subjects.
Question Author
@tambourine -? yes,all subjects -did i actually suggest turning AB into an Equine site? Er....no

Also a Cat, Dog and pet Birds section each so we don't get so many fights. Drop the useless Environment one, that could easily be included in Nature.
