Surprised again not to find anyone else here already. This was quite fiddly, and I still haven’t parsed all of the clues for the extra letters. I *think* I understand the second instruction, but...

The grid fill was not as hard as I had expected, as spotting the treatment of the holes was a great help. I'm sure I'll have mucked up the last step, however, as i'm in the "good walk ruined" camp....

A fairly typical Chalicea puzzle: nice use of theme, clues not too challenging (though I struggled for a while to find the extra letters in some of the mid-range down clues). A very pleasant exercise:...

At last an absolute cowson. This is what we have been waiting for all year. 5 half-clues solved and already fighting the urge to give up....

Short preamble but a lot going on. Nice to have an unambiguous finish too! Thanks Kruger....

A pleasing puzzle with a neatly worded preamble. It's always pleasing to learn something along the way, so many thanks to eXternal. But we're still waiting for the first tough challenge of the year....

What a clever idea, and so much going on. Thanks, Tall'n. (I've never been first before: I hope I've not jumped the gun.(

Good fun, with sufficiently straightforward clues to render it not too challenging. I think 'across the grid' must be interpreted as 'all the way across the grid' to resolve ambiguities in entering...

Have just taken up my £1 special offer for first month of my Times subscription, and do hope I shall get better value for money in the coming weeks. I regret to say that this is just not up to...

This seemed very daunting at first with so much going on but turned into a happy romp once the device became clear, and especially when the quotation emerged. Thank you MynoT

RofL!! The two editors are pulling our whatnots here in this joyous romp! Setters beware - we now know what they want from us. Anyhow, great fun if something of a sprint from start to finish. Many...

This is becoming rather sad - the third 'Goodbye crossword' in succession. What fine final words from Syd Lexis. Our thanks to him for years of enjoyment.

I presume the www.crosswordclub.co.uk site is down. There's no other url is there?...

Another rather gentle exercise with easier than normal clues (perhaps perforce) and a not too complex endgame, neatly tieing up all of the thematic material. Will be interesting to see how solvers...

I thought this was a reasonably straightforward offering from Poat. Fairly obvious what was going on from an early stage but none the worse for that. Just a few wordpalys to resolve and then it's back...

I’m surprised that no one has yet commented on this first-class puzzle. Not the usual numerical but a thoroughly entertaining exercise in logic as well as plenty of clues to solve. Thank you, Ilver....

Again, not too tricky. I admit, though, to having got the word from the quotation rather than by more direct means, and I should go back and check where two of the letters came from. Thanks, Kruger....

Was a bit upset to have to put the latest Magpie (plug, plug) aside, but lo and behold - it's a Magoo ! With just a couple of clues to go, the light has dawned and the penny has hit the ground. Just a...

I think I got (unusually) lucky with the gridfill on this, but even so, it was not quite as intimidating as the preamble led me to fear. A fun and fair workout with some entertaining clues. Thanks,...
