oh misunderstood, I thought the OP meant the doc had said not ever, rather than not yet.

GP told him after she got the results of the ultrascan and apparently when she manipulated the knee at his first appointment with her, she could see that he was not in any great pain. It's just walking he doesn't find as easy as he used to because he loves to take my son for walks in his pram.

My physio has made it clear that it is only a matter of time before I will need new knees, but in the meantime try and keep weight down, exercise by doing non weight - bearing exercises to strengthen the muscles around the joint, eat carefully (fasting has been shown to lessen the pain arthritis sufferers have, similarly by eating food that 'agrees' with you- in my case, avoiding gluten and dairy).
