I've just noticed an unusual plant growing through my neighbour's hedge into my garden. I've not seen it before and they went on holiday earlier in the year to Tibet. I'm wondering if they brought back a cutting and planted it. It's very strange. Its green leaves have small, what look like red coloured spikes, growing upwards out of them. I've not seen anything like this before and I'm a keen gardener. Anyone have any ideas?

Yep! That's them. Thanks Frank97.
These galls are also commonly found on sycamore leaves and are caused by a mite.
