Himself is on the phone to his friend laughing about how he (himself) should be dead and expressing his incredulity that people keep saying how lucky he has been. If he hadn't just had brain surgery I could bloody throttle him, he doesn't take anything seriously!

Probably best way to be
positivity will aid his recovery sherrardk.x
I agree with Elvis....dwelling on 'what ifs' is depressing.
Its just great that he has come through it all ok Sherr, it must be such a relief to you ......... and him too. Hope he continues to get stronger .........
Although I do understand that it could appear to make light of all the stress and worry you've been under.

I don't want him to be all gloom and doom, just think he is over doing the flippancy. You'd think I'd be used to him by now.
There was a group Trio but of coursea trio doesn't have to be all amle
Sorry- the only thread I've been on was a music quiz thread!
It's probably just the relief that he feels ok, making him appear to take what he has been through in a light hearted way. He was probably in the hospital worried to death ........
Don't worry Sherr, just give him some banter back - like "I've missed out on your life insurance" or something in that vein. Enjoy life together now :)
Yes, I'm not sure i would feel "lucky" in his position, either. That might take a bit longer.
well done him - give him a hug or something

When I was told I was in remission - I just felt... dead
No, I was just stunned, as I expected - 'And now we do bone marrow transplant...' and said 'I wasnt expecting you to say that...'

Main thing is, he's still here and almost the same (lost some of his spark and is knackered all of the time). He knows how worried we all were (well, I think he understood what I was saying through the sobs).

PP - that's what he said one day 'well, I wasn't expecting that'. Each to their own I suppose. (Glad you are all better.)
Bless. Put him on here, sherr. We'll tell him!
I know exactly how you feel .Mr S was so annoyed that he may have missed out on his pension when he was diagnosed with the big one .
He said ..I'm buggered if I've worked all these years just to let them have my money ..lol. ..and he got through it all quite cheerfully .
I was the one falling to bits .
Best wishes to you both .I'm pleased for you that he's ok xx
Sherr, I do understand - it is a form of 'gallows humour' and is a sort of survival technique.

Love to you all ♥
Maybe he is trying to keep his deeper feelings hidden from everyone, this is just a cover up, if you like for what's really going on inside. Like most of us, he was probably scared to bits inside but not prepared yet to admit it
