I need to produce a poster for a musical evening. I would like musical notes on a stave going across the poster with the name of the group superimposed over the top so the music stave can be seen behind the letters.

I have got the musical stave and notes logo saved in "My pictures" I then open it in Paint choose the A but this gives me a text box to type the name of the group in but when finished it blanks out the background so the stave cannot be seen behind the name of the group. Hope I am making this clear? Would be grateful for some help please.

I've never used Microsoft Paint in my life but a quick bit of experimentation with it indicates that you might be able to achieve what you want by deselecting 'Draw opaque' (from the Image menu) before creating the text box.

For really classy posters though, you should be designing them using a proper desktop publishing program. This is excellent (and free!):
