This would never happen on an American airline as in the US they treat their servicemen with respect.

Has SIR Richrd Branson lost the plot although I gather it is not Virgin policy to ban serving personel to travel in their uniforms.

A total disgrace.......in my opinion.

Oh I hit a nerve didn't I?

Nothing like suddenly seeing your own self-righteousness as stark hypocrisy to ruin the day is there.

Never mind why don't you go for a bit of a swim and come back again and tell us how we should be running the country in your absence?

/// A radical muslin cleric might be proud of his vocation, but you would want them to be dressed properly if they were flying with the public. ///

/// I am sure that if a Pakistani soldier boarded a plane and sat next to little Johnny off on his hols to DisneyWorld, then you'd be the first to complain. ///

And wouldn't you be the first to complain if airline's told Muslims to change into western dress before boarding a plane, Cleric, Pakistani soldier or even a woman in a Burka?
How does a radical Muslim cleric dress? How is it different from how any other Muslim cleric dresses?

Somebody, a security guard, has invented a policy. What thinking could possibly lie behind it ? Or has he completely misunderstood some other directive and misapplied that?
Just heard on the radio that Branson has apologised to the passenger. He said the Virgin staff were wrong to take advice from the security guard. Normal way of dealing with these things - bung them a free ticket or an upgrade on their next flight. Sorted (and everyone`s happy).

Haven't read the previous posts but, hey, sometimes the world is not quite what you would like it to be - it isn't as if anyone died or a virus was unleashed upon the world. Maybe it could have been handled differently but there are far more things happening that require ' it's a disgrace' etc etc - I have every respect for the uniformed lady by the way and for what she has done for our country, however, on a scale of 1-10, don't thing Sir Richard Branson needs to be hung, drawn and quartered.
sorry typo -
double apologies only part of the post appeared (and this has happened before) - should read 'and I don't think Sir Richard' etc
It's obviously disgraceful, and Branson's apologised on behalf of the jobsworth tw8t that he employs, so that's good.
friedgreen tomato, That is a very unfriendly remark, even though some of us chose to live abroad (and in my case I didn't have much choice!) we are still British, and I for one still pay texes in Britain, therefore we can say our armed forces!!!!
I agree with docsausage. Why exactly was she in combats?

I really can't be doing with egomaniacs, no matter what job they do.
I must be a more cynical person than you DocSausage . I said that yesterday.
We were once waiting to board an internal flight in the US. A young man in uniform was boarded first, with a woman and the tiniest baby. When we were all seated one of the cabin crew spoke to them, they got up and were escorted to the door where he hugged the woman and baby then returned alone to his seat, putting his head down into his hands. I've often wondered if they were reunited, it was such a poignant scene and also so kind of the crew to bend the rules so far for them.
