Been trying to find this out but all I've come up with is how much less steel it's used and how it can be turned down to save fuel.

No actual number

Anybody do any better?

By comparison, the Calgary Tower cauldron apparently uses 850 cubic metres per hour. OMG! I hope it's not on the same rate per cubic metre as I am!

EDF will be making a fortune then!
I have sent a message to a contact of mine at EDF and lets see what he comes back with, jake. My guess, having been in the business, is <200m3 at max - and given the petal design and some clever regulators, they can let it simmer around 40m3.

They have a CO2 offset programme in place - biogas was looked at but would have been too expensive as to design, the consumption far higher and with the corresponding CO2 issues.
volumes per hour.....
Are they mixing some other gas in to make it burn so yellow? If it was just 'gas' I would have expected smoke to be coming off as well.
Howard I seem to remember something about sodium chloride (common salt) giving a yellow flame .
I've been thinking all along, how many sheep could have been barbecued on that while the Games have been going on.
Sheep, pigs, oxen swan, geese etc

Thanks - yes I saw quite a lot about this but there seems a certain reticense about this number, I wonder if they're feeling sensitive about it
They probably are, Jake - it's our money they're burning, quite apart from the use of irreplaceable fossil fuel!
About as much gas as is expended on this forum LOL
