I am considering learning a new skill or craft (possibly with a view to getting good enough to sell whatever I make, etc). No idea what skill exactly. If you had the time/opportunity, what sort of thing do you think you would like to do?

I don't want to open an actual business (we have already experienced a disaster in that area). Just want a new hobby that might lead to selling some stuff (but, to be fair, I super un-artistic and not at all crafty so I might be struggling a bit).
We have been looking into making things from leather, from dogs collars to belts and handbags etc, looks really interesting.
I would love to be a professional writer. Although to be honest, having seen the works of Mrs O, DT and Rowan, I'd better just stick to the day job.
My SIL just quit her job as a teacher to try and build up what was initially just a hobby. She makes this stuff http://www.facebook.c...DotsandRosesAylesbury
very easy one - Pottery, sherrard, Never had the chance to do it, learn it and then take it from there.
Painting, sewing, patchwork?
Come on kiki, have a go here......would love to see and encourage you on.....

I love cooking but am not a pro - however, I have cooked for a Michelin-starred chef friend of mine and he said how much he appreciated the effort and wished more friends would do so; virtually all run scared.

The trick is to stick to what you are good at, and eating is more than just the cooking, being the vino and the bonhomie of the company too.

Writing is a little like that as well......and take the positives of any criticism as well.
I would like to become good at photography and make a living from it.
I tried my hands at bead jewellery, hand painted papier mache, and mosaic. I sold a bit of the first two. I'd like to do more of the mosaic-but I'm not terribly disciplined. Someday maybe.
I wouldn't attempt anything crafty unless you have a real interest-enough to get good enough to create things that are saleable. It's very competitive out there.
Thanks, DT. I have been known to craft the odd filthy limerick in birthday cards, but not in your league. Of poetry, that is, not filth.

pasta - post some pics of your jewellery. I bet it's really good. And I always like to buy original stuff for my sisters and girlfriends birthdays/xmas
