i've just got in from work. checking my answer machine - there are five automated cold call messages from companies, attempting to offer ppi refunds and alleged accident compensation packages.
my number is ex-directory .. i'm wondering how they get my number, and what they think they can achieve by pestering me every day
Same as you excelsior. Maybe they use a very old phone book, although that can't be it because my number has changed. I read once that they have automatic machines that call each number as it arises. Whatever it is it is a damn nuisance. If I pick up the phone and one starts I put it back down again without even trying to answer it. I still get them although I have registered with the place that filters them out (forgotten what it is called).
I'm disolusioned (sp) with TPS. I have the work phone number registered but it doesn't stop the 3 or 4 of these calls I get a day and when I looked into reporting them it was the most rediculous process ever. They wanted 'proof' of the calls. I gave up.
Mrs o
We are TPS and get two or three calls a week. There is no control if they are phoning from India. I think there was something on TV this morning about it on BBC but I only caught the end of it and they were talking about PPI nuisance calls. Others might have heard it.
Aready registered with TPs but still get loads of calls also as I have a 'recycled' number I have lots of calls from financial institutons trying to speak to a Ms A**nd* ti*r**y who had the number in the past... apparently all I can do is change my number as their is no way to block these calls
I am also signed up for the TPS. It doesn't stop the calls from abroad but I can always tell if I receive one as there is a long pause when I answer the phone, so I simply hang up. On the rare occasion one gets through and asks to speak to Mr or Mrs Overall, I say I will go fetch them and just leave them hanging on the line until they hang up.
I have had several of these calls to my mobile and th latest one was a text saying I was owed at least 3 grand I text back the words "ha ha" and havent heard from them again.
Same as rowan, we have a recycled number, we constantly get calls for a Mrs. Moss and a Mrs. Havery who have had this number in the past. We also get the odd call thinking we are Leyland golf club as our number is one digit different to theirs.... this is along with all the compensation and mis-sold PPI calls.
We have had just 2 calls so far this month from people we actually know.
