Do any of you knit and if so where on earth do you buy you wool. My Mum and I went to 4 towns yesterday looking for Aran wool with no success. Do you buy on-line? Any recommendations?

Luckily I do have wool shops fairly nearby but I do also buy online (usually Ebay) if i know what I'm looking for. Places like Wilkinsons and the Range do a a small selection and Hobbycraft is very good for wool. Do you not have any craft shops or markets you could also try?
Debenhams and Beatties sell it.
I think John Lewis do too (although their haberdashery dept is getting smaller).

House of Fraser in my local town sells wool and such.

Have your tried the yellow pages to find haberdashery shops nearby. They are often tucked away outside of town centres.

Do you have any market days in any of the towns? You might find a market trader who sells this sort of thing.
I know just the person who will give you recommendations. I will direct them to this thread.

Thanks all. I did have a quick shufty at eBay and I found another shop in Diss which sells on-line. It's a particular sort of Aran we're wanting. It's VERY poor for ANY sort of shop around here. There are/were 3 wool shops in Llandudno - one didn't sell it, one doesn't open on a Monday (which I didn't know about) and the other has closed down. There's a brilliant place called Abakhan but it's a good hours drive away - almost in Chester, but it looks as it may be getting a visit. Anyway, they do a decent lunch too so it makes for a nice day out.
If you go to Abakhan give me a nudge and I will come with you. I'm always up for a trip there. I was there last week because it was the only place I could find that sold foam for a cushion seat.
