ducks need access to water to keep their feathers healthy and they do poo a lot. Why don't you do a google search on duckkeeping on the web for more info. Strictly unless you are over 16, you can't purchase or own animals, so they would remain the responsibility of your mum and dad.....

thanx 4 your help
I believe that they make a mess of lawns by 'paddling' on them with their feet and making a muddy mess. Have you not thought of keeping hens instead? They are more 'garden' friendly and help keep pests like slugs and snails down by eating them.
we have ducks, and yes....they make a heck of a mess, they do paddle with their beaks in the grass when they feed, they kill the water lillies andp00p everywhere...other than that, they are lovely:)

Hi kezza, to be honest, with bird flu rapidly approaching the UK from various directions,  now would NOT be a good time to start keeping ducks which are some of the birds most likely to be infected due to the migratory habits of many species of ducks which might land with your ducks and infect them and then fly on to somewhere else.

I have a friend who keeps ducks & yes, they make a lot of mess & a lot of work, keeping their shed clean, making sure they are safe from foxes, etc etc. Oh & they bite the heads off all the plants in the garden!

sorry about the amp; - don't know where that came from!
