Your at a junction the lights are red.
In your mirror and also you can hear the sirens of an emergency vehicle behind you.
The only way they can pass , is for you to pull forwards and past the red light.
If like in my case the junction has a camera.
I was lucky and the lights turned Green and I was able to move forwards and they passed me.
If I had pulled forwards ...and the camera had triggered ....would I still get a ticket ?
Could I dispute it ?
ie Are you allowed to break minor traffic laws to allow emergency vehicles to pass you ...but of course staying safe ...
Cheers for the link an, but it would be interesting to see if there are any examples of actual prosecutions out there rather than hearsay and friend of a friend type stories.
What was the outcome of the appeal? I've never had a ticket but i was under the impression that if you disagree you can request a hearing in court instead. Is this not the case, and if so then the common sense factor will apply.
The law needs to be made clear.
You should not have all the hassle of appeal etc.
As I stated ..best to stay on the right sidevof the law and not jump a red light.
Whatever abuse you might get from the blue lighted driver ....
You are simply observing the law.
Sad ....but safest thing to do.
So bob jugs ....what would you do ?
Break the law and jump the red light ?
Read in the paper about a organ delivery car on sirens being in court for doing a 112mph and caught on camera.
In the London Metro last week ....
If he ends up in court , what chance would we have for jumping a red light ....
Seems the law is a mess.
Until sorted best to not break the rules I guess.
