What's Slough like ?

I'm thinking of buying a house in Slough, its close to where I live already and the prices are good. But I've heard alot of mixed reviews about the area. Has anyone got any opinions about Slough ?????

Many moons ago I used to live in nearby Maidenhead and I wouldn't personally have touched Slough with a 10 foot barge pole then, and would even be less likely to now. It is not an attractive town, you have a trading estate and lots of ugly concrete office blocks, It is a very ethnic area similar to Southall, the prices of houses could be low as the crossrail project is due to begin work in next year or so, so beware if you do buy that the property is not going to be affected by that. Also have a look on the wikipedia entry for slough and you will find plenty of info.

I was once on a flight out of Heathrow. As the plane climbed, the pilot made his 'welcome aboard' speech, then added, "Passengers on the right will have a nice view of Slough. After a pause, he added, "If there is such a thing as a nice view of Slough!"

Well I always see a lot of Slough when I watch Road Wars... seems to have a good road system (especially if driving at speed away from coppers cars), and is good for night time fast driving too!

Hi,

I used to live near Slough and if you want an honest opinion, I woulden't live there for all the money in the world.

It has an excellent shopping centre if you like shopping however and it is a very colourful place with lots of different nationalities living there.

There are Indians - Pakistanies - Africans - Malaysians - Poles - Croatians - and lots of other foreign people. Most of the British people have moved away from the area due to the high crime rate.
