it was my daughters 1st birthday in feb and my paren ts didnt bother to send a card or call to wish a happy birthday or anything, i didnt make to much of an issue out of it because i thought that their bound to come up with something for her in time. It was my birthday this weekend and i got the same treatment, should i confront them on the issue now and cause a rift or should i let it go and let them get on with it? does anyone else have these issues with their families?

Mrs sqad...thinks it is disgusting of your parents.

Sqad....thinks it's "no big deal"

There!!
Mrs Monkey thinks that it is shocking behaviour.

Mr Monkey agrees !
Sara thinks it's outrageous but also has a fairly crap family, so can sympathise.

you can't change them if that's how they are. whether you'll achieve anything by confronting them is another matter. they either don't care enough, or they're too selfish to even realise what they're like.

concentrate on your own little family, they're far more important :o)
Have you inadvertibly forgotten a celebration of theirs?
I klnow that you didn't ask for this, but sqad's thoughts on birthdays:

1) It is mainly a woman's thing.
2) OK for kids.
3) Teenagers Ok to get "cool gear"
4) Excuse to have a "thrash" and snog next door neighbours wife.
5) From then on you are celebrating a year off your lifespan.

P.s My birthday is in May...don't bother with the card LOL
I disagree with sqad :-)

To me it's the one day of the year when you get to be fussed.
I can't understand them missing your daughter's birthday - that would upset me. I wouldn't mind about my own so much. I should do as sara suggests and get on with your own family - ultimately it's their loss
xx
Just to prove my point, just look at that thread in CB...."Happy Birthday noKnowledge".............I ask yopu .......two grown people.
thats awful i cant believe your mum could forget your birthdays even if they are hard up a card doesnt cost much if it was me i would have to ask her why she couldnt be bothered to even send a card , anyway gossipgirl a belated happy birthday to you and your little girl from me xxx
concentrate on your little girl gossipgirl, she's the one who loves you unconditionally, was there perhaps a family rift somewhere along the line? bet even so, for them not to send a little girl of 1 a card..........is infantile on their part
