I am sorry to have listed my questions seperately and thank you to everyone who helped me. I studied the questions for two weeks before resorting to help. Please let me know how to do the following 1. Is it necessary to delete answered questions and if so how? 2. How do I enter multiple questions under one thread? Again, many thank for all your help

Hi dirtypaws. Welcome to answerbank. Don't worry about the single posts for each question, a lot of people do that when they first join.

1. You can't delete anything from the board, so dont worry about it.

2. Easy

1st Question
2nd Question
3rd Question
etc, etc.

If you know how many letters the answer contains, say so and let us know the letters you already have. also which crossword or quizz the question relates to.

e.g.

Local Quizz

1. A type of wood? 8 letters

?a?o?a??

Hope that helps xx

Welcome Ruth x If you are unsure about anything just ask. The majority of people here are very friendly and helpful. xx
After people have answered give a thanks in a post on the same thread, and dont start a new post to do so. And if you feel like it you can award stars to the answers and will see the prompt to do so against each answer.
Welcome.

In addition to the good advice already posted, I'd say you should also try to answer some questions posed by other people as well as asking your own.

People who ask loads of questions and never answer any in return and/or never acknowledge the answers given are likely to find themselves criticised.
As you seem to have found out, there a some unwritten rules for using this site.

Quite how you are supposed to find out about these does not seem to occur to some of those who criticise, but, as has been said, most people on here are quite friendly.

I wouldn't worry too much about answering questions posted by others until you are a little more confident - there is sometimes a manic scramble to do this, particularly at weekends. You can carefully script a reply, only to find out that half a dozen others have beaten you to the post.

By the way, try not to carry the advice to post multiple questions in one post too far - many are put off if you ask moe than a handful at a time.

Good luck

Thank you very much for your constructive comments BigDave44
I disagree BigDave I am more put off by someone asking 3 then 3 then 3 then 3 etc
It becomes more obvious they are asking loads if their name is in a continous row and you always sense there will be more the next day
As you will have noticed here we dont all entirely agree with each other, but we kind of all want roughly the same thing. By asking what to do you will have earned some brownie points, and dont worry if you do anything too wrong there will be someone soon tells you. There are even some very stern folks with huge truncheons, but for now enjoy!

I was giving a personal opinion. If I see ten questions asked in one post, then I usually move on to another question, unless I'm particularly bored (which doesn't happen much these days since I started my infamous blog!!).

This is because you have to continually check which one's have been answered already, and the post gets longer and longer. Once it goes over 20 postings, and into a second page, it becomes tedious in the extreme.

There is a happy medium, and it probably depends on the type of question, which is why I carefully avoided trying to quantify it. As ever, common sense is usually the best guide.
