OR if you see the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations going cheap it's very good.
My Library Service has lots of books on line.
Encyclopaedia Britannica.
O.E.D.
Groves Dictionary of Music. I just need my library ticket number.
Yours may do this too.

Thanks Tallulah! I do have the Oxford Dict. of Quotations, must be 30 years old and well thumbed, got it as one of the "6 books for a shilling" from World Books.
I will call at the local library and see if they have an online service. That could prove to be very useful seeing as they are only open part-time.
Just google Lincolnshire County Librares and it will surely have a heading ' books online'. That is probably not your County. Just guessing. Mine is West Sussex and is Excellent.

Thanks for that info. It is Lincolnshire, and there is an on line reference section which uses external links. As you said, I will need to enter my library number -think I will need to upgrade from my little brown card ticket holder before I do that, they were not computerised when I last visited; but then a new library has been built since then and shame on me I have never been in it.
