One cannot die from pain alone... It is the physical effects brought about BY the pain that might induce death... for example.... the increased levels of adrenaline might induce a cardiac arrhythmia, which might then lead to death.

A friend in the army told me about this, you can make your own mind up!!

They found some prisoners in a camp, what they thought was a field hospital. People had lost limbs and were on transfusions ect.

When they spoke to them, they were, infact being tortured, having thier limbs hacked off and then given blood transfusions to keep them alive. the wounds were left open! like i say this is 2-3rd hand info but its quite grusome and i have looked into it and a few militant groups do this for the fear factors. Not quite the same as our goverments sort sharp shock!!
