How do bands like Linkin park keep their voices on concert tours?   They yell in all their songs, & I really wonder how they keep it up night after night.

I shouldn't name drop, but hey, I'm going to! I interviewd Mick Hucknall for a musicians' magazine, about vocal technique. He told me that singers starting out always sing from the throat, and it gets rerally sore after a few days, and then goes completely. Professional singers learn to sing from their diaphragm, somehwere in the chest area, which causes no strain on the vocal chords. This technique allows singers to sing, shout, and scream with minimal damage.
Having said that, I read that a rock singer (can't recall the name of the singer) had started to get bleeding vocal chords lately from singing in that manner. I wouldn't recommend it. I also think they probably balance the vocals so that the mic is comparatively loud, so a quiet roar directly into the mic sounds really fierce! You can sing from your diaphragm by basically not raising your shoulders when you take a breath to sing. That way the air is taken from your stomach area, and gives you loads more power without involving the throat.
when i shout in songs, i dronk some cough mixture too. it coats your throat in stuff. i ttastes disgusting, though!! don't try this at home.
