Hi - I am wanting to sit my GCSE in Psychology and hopefully follow it up with A level and then who knows! I've been searching on line and am quite shocked at how much home study courses are. Does anyone know of any way to do it completely by yourself or do you really need the support of these organisations. I've been quoted 303 for the course.

Many thanks.

I think you really need one of these organisations, they know the syllabus, what you need to learn etc and for some courses, coursework counts towards the final exam.

I don't see how on earth you could do it alone, how would you know if you were studying the right stuff or had understood properly? Who would you turn to if you didn't understand and needed assistance?

303 isn't that much, you can pay in installments with most of them.
Try your local college always better working in a group in my opinion
In listenting to Steve Wright on the radio last week his guest (can't remember the name) spoke of a web site called Grants.
Go via google and have a look - apparently there is a lot of money NOT being used up, and you may well be able to get something to help you along.
Also any charities linked by family relations, ie SSAFA for army and airforce, whether from your parent/s if no longer living. British Legion etc; however this may be more appropriate for an octogenarian as I got a lot of help for my father: a mobility schooter, insurance for it, plus a low storage shed, an extra donation quarterly, over and above his meagre pension (we lived abroad for many many years!). This helps him over his State pension now, of 19.80 a week, whilst the remainder goes towards his Residential Home fees. (The State picks up the balance.)
I'd try 'Grants' first. MazC
