worm in computer registry

Recently, I had a system32 worm in my tilecomnu registry. I had to use Symantec to remove the file and replace it with another one - online. There was nothing else that worked.

Now I have downloaded and installed Windows updates; pressed reset and my computer is stuck in a loop where it keeps trying to reset and I have to unplug it to turn it off.

A black screen with white words reads:
"Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.... etc. etc.

I clicked on "Start windows normally" and "safe mode" and "Last known configuration" to no effect. I clicked on either "safe mode with networking" or "safe mode with command prompt" - I think it was the latter - and my computer is in safe mode and I don't know how to fix it.

I wish my programs would work on Linux because Windows are an irritation.

Any advice welcome, please.

The worm was deleted by Symantec by a sort of remote control.

The problem now is when I tried to restart my computer I get this message which disappears after about 20 seconds and then appears again continually. There is no system restore option.

This is what it says:

"Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this. If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose last known good configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked. If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure, or because the power or reset button was pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused the problem, choose "start windows" normally."

Then the options given on the screen are:

"Safe mode
Safe mode with networking
Safe mode with command prompt
Last known good configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Start windows normally"

Then it says:

"use the up and down arrow keys" which I did. I only got a response with one of the safe mode options. I chose "owner" from the two options given. And then I had to type something onto the screen, but when I tried my owner name or the name Windows, they weren't valid.

So, I don't know what to type to get out of safe mode.

Going back to the original problem, my internet security system was unable to delete the worm because the worm was in the registry. That is why I had it done by remote control. Somebody has since told me that there is some software that can remove worms from the registry. Do you know about it? Has anybody here ever used any of these methods?
