One of my computers comes up with a Norton Virus Alert: "Norton has detected a virus on your computer. Object name: W32.spybot.worm Action taken: Unable to repair I've tried running the antivirus scan and removing infected files that way. I've also been into the registry, which seems to have nothing untoward in it. However, when I close down and reboot, up comes the message again. Help would be gratefully received!

I've just tried your suggestion, but I'm using Windows 2000 Professional, and it doesn't seem to have a 'system restore' tab. Any other suggestions?

Have you run your scan in safe mode ? It may be that windows is using a file that norton is trying to delete. Alternatively check out the norton removal instructions <a>here<href=http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.spybot.worm.html#removalinstructions></a>
