Post Office scandal: Rishi Sunak considers measures to clear all victims - BBC News
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-67905194

Measures are being considered by the government to clear hundreds of sub-postmasters who were wrongly convicted in the Post Office Horizon scandal.

More than 700 branch managers were convicted of false accounting, theft and fraud based on faulty software.

Fewer than 100 people have had their convictions quashed.

Rishi Sunak said the scandal was "an appalling miscarriage of justice".

It's good that the government are now taking this seriously.

The bulk of prosecutions occured in the 2000-2010 period. Who was the government minister responsible for the PO then- does any know?

Lib/dem leader Ed Davey

Agree. Just a shame it's taken a tv programme to nudge the conscience of one or two in power.

So I should think! Only an idiot would think that it was theft when so many were affected. How there were convictions I don't know.

I think its only right that everyone is cleared , to draw a line under the whole sorry episode, they have all suffered enough

there are now claims that the PO were prosecuting people during a pilot scheme even before Horizon was put into action
