My daughter recently bought a puppy. It came with 2 weeks free insurance from the breeder. The insurance was with KC. During the 2 week period it had to have some eye drops. After the 2 weeks were up she took out new insurance with a new company, PP. The dog now needs an operation on its eye (over £1000), but KC wont cover it as the dog is no longer insured with them and PP wont cover as they say its a pre-existing condition. As the dog was insured with KC when the condition began I feel the KC should be responsible. Any ideas, and always thanks in advance

if the dog didnt need an operation when it was covered by KC, then why should it pay now?
Did your daughter take the dog to the vet as soon as she got it. Did the breeder know about the problem if they did then the responsibility s theirs. What contract did they have with the breeder. Report the breeder if they sold the puppy knowing there was a problem and did not say
if youd have wanted to keep the condition that arose when he was covered by kc, you should have stayed with kc. i think you have no chance of getting anyone to cover it. its exactly the same as if your dog had been covered by one insurance co for 10 years then you decided to change.
Ask the vet who says the dog needs an operation what they think about which insurer should pay, if any.

And, depending on their answer, think about getting a second opinion from another vet.
this is covered by the observation:
dog insurance is crap : they never pay whatever....
The key is that PP is saying it was a pre-existing condition. That's either correct or it isn't. Your vet should know which.

If it isn't correct then PP should be paying.

If it is correct then the next question is, was the pre-existing condition declared when applying for insurance from PP? If it wasn't declared then your daughter isn't covered. If it was declared then she is.
