Bond Street Station finally opens 4 years late and £570 million over budget. Part of the Elizabeth Line £4 billion over budget.

True? Then why are the Scottish Govt getting castigated over the ferries?

Yes both should be castigated. Incompetence knows no borders

Thanks for the reminder Chris. Didn't want to put it in News. Hey ho, if it goes it goes.
Your xenophobia knows no bounds - you’re comparing apples with oranges.

A major infrastructure project involving incredibly complex civil engineering to bring relief to an overburdened transport system in the most important city in the country, compared to the incompetency, overruns and over budget of building a couple of boats cannot be compared.

Good try though - a fail, but a good try.
'Incredibly complex' is one of those shorthand phrases that means 'don't tell them what it'll actually cost or we won't get the work, we can bump them later'.

I actually feel a bit embarrassed on your behalf Maggiebee that you’ve tried, and spectacularly failed, to draw a comparison.
fair question. The Elizabeth Line people knew they were massively over budget and just didn't tell anyone. Bond St alone was something like 500% over budget.

Moral: if something's running off the rails, rename it after the monarch, then people will speak in such hushed tones about it that nobody will dare accuse anyone of robbing the public purse.
4 billion over budget - what's the problem ?

It was just an estimate , gov .

Tee hee hee hee ....

Except it’s really not the moral Jno - as per you’re talking utter nonsense.
Ignore the naysayers Maggie, you've highlighted an issue which certainly merits major castigation.
