If I were an investment banker with a very good bonus pay out (depending on how my investments performed), I might identify a risky investment - if it comes off I’d make well in excess of £1 million as a bonus payment. If it fails, the bank might go bankrupt and I’d miss out on a multimillion pound bonus.

As an investment banker, would you make such a risky investment that might make you a multi-millionaire, but on the downside could bankrupt the bank?

DD: "Hymie’s naive fanciful nonsense is naive fanciful nonsense.

Stay in your lane and comment on things you know about rather talking cobblers. " - bang on.
I do find it frustrating on this site the way people hold themselves out to be oracles on every given subject.

This a subject I know about in my professional capacity, which is why I’ve commented. Hymie clearly doesn’t.

You will never see me commenting on this site about climate change (or whatever it’s called this week) because I don’t understand it, so it would be daft of me to do so. Other people should heed this.
^I quite agree. I don’t argue about things I’m ignorant of either.
rather than trying to tell companys to cap bonus payments we should be grateful for any extra income tax at 40% the treasury get from these bonuses and if Hymies right about avoidance then tighten up on that
As a senior citizen looking after a disabled wife, who is also a senior citizen, with not much income, all the talk of investment bankers, bonus payments, million pound this and that, is alien to me. I want to know where we are going to get the money from to pay for the increases that are bound to follow in the next couple of years. But then again, senior citizens don't really matter because us old farts won't be around for very long anyway.
