Squirrel gone! Hamster safe! Thank you everyone for helping me through my crisis.xx
Night Katie, get a door screen. xxx
my cat brought a very small bird in yesterday to the bedroom I got it away from her, as she only has two teeth left I knew she couldnt harm the bird but of course it must have been terrified, and the poor little might ran under our bed which is a very big bed with drawers under it very scared to move bed in case I squash the bird so I left it and went out, shut the cat in the spare room, knew my dogs wouldnt bother, came back open the front door and the little bird hopped out onto the porch and away into the front garden, it had come downstairs by itself.
How's Hammie this morning, katie?
Aww poor little thing, how is she today?
Yes let us know katie. I would have died if it had come in my house.
(watch that wound for infection)

I did not know that a squirrel would attack like that. They are vegetarians aren't they? Perhaps it was just frightened at being in an enclosed space. Like birds flutter all round when all you are doing is trying to help them get out. Pity they can't read minds. How is the dear little hamster today. Hope she has recovered. Actually if I found a squirrel in my kitchen I would really panic.
I do hope your hamster is okay now, poor little thing, it must have been terrified.

Awwww thanks everyone. Victoria (the hamster) is tucked up in her bed at the moment. I'll have a good look at her this evening when she wakes up.x
If it was the squirrel it may have been trying to get at food.

Does the hamster have seed bars or similar hanging on the cage?

Squirrels can be rough and are very strong; the injury may have come from its teeth or its claws if it was reaching through for food.
The squirrel was probably after your hamsters food not her. They are quite greedy little blighters. I hope little hammy is ok now. How did your children take it? I bet you
soon reassured them.
Would it not be an idea to let the vet do a quick check ?
I'm still unclear as to whether the attacker was the squirrel or some other assailant.
