lots of chatter on here (and elsewhere) for a "people's vote" - a second referendum, it's also been described as. well now Mr Corbyn is looking to get behind the campaign:-

with both parties polarised by Brexit, what chance of the "people's vote" receiving a parliamentary majority? and, more importantly, what would the question be - a simple yes/no choice, or more options to choose from?

ignore, for now, the charge that a second vote cold be "undemocratic".....

The bill did not contain any requirement for the UK Government to implement the results of the referendum, nor set a time limit by which a vote to leave the EU should be implemented. ... The leaflet was titled: "Why the Government believes that voting to remain in the European Union is the best decision for the UK".

It was advisory.
It needs to be a long enough time to do the unpopular parts that need doing and then presenting the results for judgement. Practicalities again. It's why we stayed in the EU until enough folk realised the error, and didn't hold two referenda prior to going in.

As for the bill, it makes little odds, the government promised to uphold the result, and the process specifies 2 years. Far longer than is reasonable to wait to get something done. And despite the patience, some are trying to make it even longer regardless of the harm it'd do. And then they'll turn around and blame their opponents for their own folly.
