Took her indoors to the GP this morning .
I went into the GP room with her .

The doctor asked her twice , if she wanted a chaperone , ( even though i was in the room ) before he examined her .

What's your experience ladies, of your surgery , when you see a male doctor ?

Some GPs insist on a female nurse being present during intimate examinations, probably to protect themselves from accusations
I've no problem seeing a male doctor, the poor man has seen bits of me that I never knew existed, however, he does call for the female nurse on duty to witness what he's doing.
I have no problems with a male doctor. I usually go alone which is ok with me. You would have thought he would have asked her if she required a female to be present

Yes , i know that is the reason
Same thing happened to us this morning at a hospital visit.

It avoids any misunderstandings or, I suppose, malicious claims later.

marval - that's what he meant , i assumed

By the way , why is the question not asked , when it's a female doctor and a male patient ( well no one has ever asked me , as far as i can recall )

Just so long as you don't faint easily , alba :-)

It may depend on the doctor, Bazile.

I had an exam of the vegetables a while back and the doctor called another female into the room although she stayed on the other side of the curtain.
We have 4 drs at our surgery. 3 Females and 1 male. The male is relatively new and he makes me feel a little uncomfortable. So if I had to have an examination ( downstairs) :-), I'd always choose Female..
Slightly different scenario here but when I went for my last cervical smear test, a female nurse carried out the procedure. However, she did call in another female nurse to be there as a bystander. So they both heard me yelping in pain. :-)
I prefer a male doctor. Last time I needed my chest examined, he asked if I wanted a chaperone. I said No.
Our surgery insists on it for intimate exams. Must admit I don't know whether that applies to female doc/male patient.
One of the male partners is now in prison for offences committed while examining females and some children.
In this day and age I'm surprised that doctors don't routinely have another member of staff with them in such situations to protect themselves from false accusations from the patients.
I have been on the other side of this question. I was once a doctor's receptionist, and was occasionally called upon to be the chaperone. It was always for a very intimate examination, often connected with pregnancy or infertility, and I never knew where to put myself. The doctor insisted I watched, however, to ensure there could be no claim of impropriety against him. He was single, and said he dreaded being blackmailed into marriage !
////So they both heard me yelping in pain. :-) ////

Glad to read that cos I am having to believe there is no pain. Yea right.

My first examination ever - my very hurried doctor thrust thrust and thrust an object up my finiculus (vagina) - couldn't do it - then she said "oh I must give you a sanitary towel" - "why said I "I don't have a period" - ach I have ripped you. My first one ever and I still can't get them done with pain so don't get any now.
asking about a chaperone
it is pretty standard practice nowadays

I'm a reasonably big butch Guy, the last time I went to see my GP about something a bit personal my OH was with me, I was still asked if I wanted a Chaperone, (Male doctor btw)
