^^^ Agreed. The driver number must match their surname: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/518243/INS57P-information-on-driving-licences.pdf

Nobody can help?
Yes It does
I would think it would Ratters, her maiden name will have changed.
It definitely changes. We married 18 months ago and my wife informed DVLA.
Yes but it's you who have to inform DVLA, HRMC won't do it for you. Having said that the wife doesn't have to if she chooses not to take a new surname surely.
Married, married who is getting married RATTER? :-)
// I would think it would Ratters, her maiden name will have changed.//

I think her maiden name would stay the same
even tho being married she is a maiden no more ....

30-50% of DVLC entries are inaccurate apparently
which is high even for a dynamic ( = changing) database
I would think she must notify DVLC as sometimes a driving licence is used as a method of identification.
I would have thought Prudie was right: if you change your surname, tell them; if you don't, don't. Up to you what name you're known by.
If you keep your maiden name you do not have to do anything ..but if you do then you have to tell them
Do we need to buy hats?
Is there any cake?
Not bothered about cake but a party would be good.
