Hi Woodelf and Happy New Year xxx

I hope this is the one and someone can help - there is some pale lettering beneath each month's immage but too faint for my poor eyes too.

Hi Mamya, yes your link seems to be the right one, as we have the calendar and my partner says that the signature - if it is one - is too faint for her to read so, hopefully, someone with a calendar and a microscope or a mag glass can work summat out!

But as well as that, A Very Happy and Healthy New Year to you too Mamya xxx
Could it be David Gentleman perhaps ?
Question Author
Mmmmaybe Mikey - you'll notice the hesitation - but Thanks Very Much.
the lettering beneath the image seem to be just description, no artists' names.

I assume it's nobody famous (like David Gentleman), otherwise they'd say so.

Oh heck jno, now we're none the wiser!...smile
Have you tried putting the picture description into google image search to see if you get a match on the original picture?
Are you in Twitter? If so you could try sending them a tweet, they have been active today on their Twitter feed.

I've never tweeted them but have some great customer service from other companies using Twitter previously.

No, I'm not in twitter Eve - just a twit!...smile....and I wouldn't know how Davey!...I could try and contact WH Smith though via their site.
I have magnified the images as large as I can and I can't see any signature, so I think we must conclude that the W H Smiths have used library pictures from somewhere, otherwise the artist would be seen.

The are rather nice though aren't they....I love watercolours !
from what I can see, the pictures are all by the same artist. So at a guess, rather than getting them from a picture library (as they might do if they were using photos), they've commissioned an artist to do them for WH Smith but put the company's name on the calendar rather than his. Perhaps his name is included elsewhere, especially if there's a copyright note anywhere on the pages I can't see. (He of course might be a she.)
I think it could well be Neil Gower. Look at Bill Bryson's The Road to Little Dribbling cover in particular.

Very Many Thanks Mikey and I'm afraid not, Ladybirder...my partner will just have to enjoy each painting as it is. But Many Thanks to You All.
woodelf, they are such beautiful paintings that I have been investigating a little further. Not awfully successfully. But you will see on the attached link the names of some of the artists used by WHSmith printed underneath their paintings. Perhaps one or two of them may have paintings on your calendar.
