Why was this woman released by the police with just a caution, her only punishment was to be struck off as a registered teacher by the Education Workforce Council.

She not only falsely posed as a 13 year old girl so as to ruin an innocent man's life by accusing him a paedophile, but when she was found out she tried to place the blame on her estranged husband.

I know, but a few posters suggesting mental illness. There's always a chance of winning- she admitted it for the caution for a start.
Yes, but she wouldn't have admitted it in court. A lot of people accept a caution (misguidedly in many cases in my opinion) just to get the whole thing over and done with and to get out of the police station. Once the caution has been accepted, that's it, until the person applies for a job that has the right to an extended CRB check.
Based on the scant details we have above, we have no way of knowing her reasons.

Presumably those handling the case have more insight.
