Had To Make A Decision.
21 Answers
We were going on holiday to Brittany in June. Due to OH's illness we have had to cancel. His holiday insurance runs out in May. There is no chance of him getting it again at an affordable price. They wanted the balance paid now so we have had to cancel. We have only lost £80 deposit and are in process of claiming it back before his current insurance runs out.
It is just as well we cancel as we won't know where we are re hospital appointments and stays.
Never mind we may be able to find something in this country when we know we have a window.

We also have to make the decision about a holiday near Paris in September.
Do we cancel now while he is still insured or do we ride it out and hope he is well enough to go.
He reckons he is not bothering with holiday insurance anymore but I think it's a bit dangerous.

Come and explore East Anglia, Caran. We've got delightful coastal towns (e.g. Southwold, here in Suffolk), lovely unspoilt beaches (e.g. loads of places in North Norfolk), great shopping, restaurants and bars (especially in Norwich and Cambridge but Ipswich is also very much 'up and coming' these days), delightful historic towns (e.g. Dedham and Lavenham, if you can afford the tourist prices that get charged there!) and much, much more.
We've also got excellent hospitals as, while I'm sure your hubby's health can only be improved by the ambience of East Anglia, you're sure to fall over something, off something or under something ;-)

That would require a massive premium, Tony!
A serious point about insurance for Caran:
Remember that your EHICs get you the same free, or discounted, health provision in France that French nationals get. Click 'Health Services and Costs' here: http:// www.nhs .uk/NHS England /Health careabr oad/cou ntrygui de/Page s/healt hcarein France. aspx
The 'health' element of travel insurance is only needed for
(a) any costs that aren't covered by your EHICs ;
(b) repatriation costs if, say, an air ambulance is required to get one of you back to the UK ; and
(c) the costs of cancelling your holiday if one of you is too ill to travel.
So travelling abroad without insurance might not be particularly risky. (I don't usually bother).

Caran, have you looked into travel insurance for people with pre existing medical conditions? Have a look at these.

Hi, there is a newish insurance company called "Ok To Travel". I found them on the All Clear website. When you go to the all clear site they are listed in the companies they recommend. They are quite reasonable for those of us with pre-existing conditions. Maybe worth a look if you decide to take out another policy.
